The NSHA Board is currently inviting NSHA members to join us on the board. We are a congenial group of down to earth horse people, some of whom don't own horses or even ride. We meet once a month for a couple of hours. We are interested in maintaining the availability of the parks to the horses, as well as protecting your interests. Give me a call and I'll be only to happy to fill you in on the specifics.

Job? Or just a horse to ride?

I am moving to Nassau county the beginning of September. I am a hunter/eq/jumper rider and am looking for a job and/or a horse to ride. I can and will ride just about anything. I have started young horses and can also get older ones into the show ring. I would also be interested in any sort of job involving horses, mucking stalls not ideal but I would do it occasionally. A horse that would benefit my riding I would be more then willing to ride for free but one that is greener and needs work I would charge a small fee for and work would be a TBD rate. I have a resume I can send out if you are interested. Thanks!

Cowboy Mounted Shooting

Hi everyone!

We have recently started a new club on Long Island for Cowboy Mounted Shooting.

For those not familiar with this exciting equine sport, it is a time event much like barrel racing. Only when we run a pattern, we also shoot balloons from horseback. It is incredibly fun. It is also suitable for various levels of experience - beginners compete against other beginners, experienced riders compete against other experienced riders.

Believe it or not, this sport is not only very popular out west, it is also big in New England. Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine all have active clubs. Ours is the first New York club of its kind and we are based right here on Long Island.

Our first competition will be held on August 16 at Old Bethpage Village Restoration.

We are currently scheduling clinics and practices to teach the game to new riders and their horses.

Our first clinic is set for Sunday, June 21 at Hidden Pond Stables in Manorville. This is the perfect opportunity to learn more and introduce your horse to Cowboy Mounted Shooting. We will teach you everything you need to get started. This is a very beginner friendly sport.

More information and registration forms are available at our website:

http://www.islandlongriders.com

you can also email me directly at joe@islandlongriders.com

Thanks!

--Joe
